Overview

Destinations:

Stretching more than 2,600 miles along South America’s Pacific coast, Chile is a country of remarkable contrasts—where lunar deserts, vineyard-covered valleys, temperate rainforests, and glacial peaks unfold within a single nation. This program traces that dramatic sweep from north to south, beginning in the vibrant capital of Santiago and the colorful port city of Valparaíso before traveling into the vast landscapes of the Atacama Desert. Here, salt flats shimmer beneath volcanoes, flamingos gather in mineral lagoons, and the exceptionally clear skies reveal some of the most brilliant stargazing on Earth.

Continuing south, the scenery shifts again in Chile’s Lake District, where emerald waters and forested hills surround charming towns influenced by German settlers. The experience culminates in Patagonia at Torres del Paine National Park, one of the most celebrated natural landscapes in the world. Towering granite peaks rise above turquoise lakes and sweeping plains where condors soar and guanacos roam. Traveling through these distinct regions reveals the extraordinary geographic diversity that defines Chile—and offers an opportunity to experience a country shaped as much by its landscapes as by its history and culture.
