For more than a thousand years, pilgrims have walked the Way of St. James, seeking penance, enlightenment, and adventure. Their destination was Santiago de Compostela, near the Atlantic coast of Spain, where it is believed the remains of St. James, Apostle and patron saint of the country, are buried. Join us to experience the most interesting sections of the Camino during a rare occasion—the festive Compostela Holy Year (Xacobeo), observed for the first time in 11 years. Conclude with Mass at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela, where the traditional incense-burning ceremony will be performed specially for our group. Daily, invigorating walks will range from approximately 3-5 miles. Admire spectacular monuments, savor fine cuisine, and spend your nights in deluxe hotels and historic paradores—some former monasteries.
