Day 1 - Cape Town, South Africa - Surrounded by the wild waters of the Atlantic and the graceful rolling hills of the Cape Winelands, Cape Town boasts a rich history, vibrant local culture and stunning landscapes. Meet fellow travelers and expedition staff at a festive welcome dinner. Then choose from an array of activities to explore Cape Town, from cultural highlights like the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary African Art to the natural wonders of Table Mountain.
Day 2-3: Cape Winelands, South Africa - Encounter the rich terroir and world-renowned wines of Stellenbosch, where hundreds of acclaimed vineyards lie scattered around the verdant valleys framed by a series of gentle peaks. Choose to relax at your grand estate or venture out to explore wineries, visit art collections and discover charming towns.
Day 4-6: Sossusvlei, Namibia - Sossusvlei's immense sand dunes, sweeping desert vistas and endemic wildlife will captivate you. Set off on a 4x4 journey into the dunes, soar over the expansive landscape in a hot air balloon or visit an ancient canyon carved over millions of years.
Day 7-8: Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe - Encounter the majesty of Victoria Falls, a UNESCO World Heritage site. As the Zambezi River plunges over the edge of a basalt plateau, the falls thunder down a series of gorges and create a rainbow mist that can be seen from more than 12 miles away.
Day 9-10: South Luangwa National Park, Zambia - South Luangwa National Park is home to a dense concentration of wildlife. Spot leopard, hippo, lion, wild dog and perhaps even the family of elephants that arrive regularly to sample the mangos at your lodge.
Day 11-12: Pemba, Mozambique - Discover the white-sand beaches and turquoise Indian Ocean waters of Mozambique. Relax on the glorious beach and pamper yourself in the world-class spa. Or go the active route and surf the waves, snorkel with vibrant tropical fish and paddle the estuary waters in a kayak.
Day 13-15: Kruger National Park, South Africa - Experience the joys and surprises of searching for wildlife in the heart of the bush. Accompanied by expert naturalist guides, look for lion, buffalo, leopard, African bush elephant and rhinoceros in some of the most spectacular landscapes on the continent.
Day 16-17: Hermanus, South Africa - End your journey at Grootbos Nature Reserve, home to thousand-year-old forests, and the marine Big Five of whales, sharks, seals, penguins and dolphins. Choose from a variety of curated experiences that introduce you to the landscape, flora and fauna of the reserve.
Day 18: Cape Town, South Africa - Return to Cape Town in the morning and catch your independent flight home later in the day.
