Join us aboard the elegant 59-cabin Hebridean Sky, for an eight-night Western Mediterranean cruise. This unique educational program highlights phenomenal archeological sites in Gibraltar and Salerno, Italy, as well as the Spanish island Menorca and Italian islands Sardinia and Sicily.
Begin the program in Gibraltar and witness where the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea meet at Europa Point. Explore the Great Siege and WWII Tunnels and stop at Gorham`s Cave Complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, before embarking the spectacular Hebridean Sky. Cruise to Granada and visit the outstanding Alhambra fortress and Generalife Gardens with an Andalusian lunch to follow. In Menorca, see architectural highlights including the UNESCO Prehistoric Site of Talayotic Menorca and Ciudadella. Call at Cagliari, Sardinia, home to the ancient ruins of Nora and Su Nuraxi in Barumini, a fascinating UNESCO World Heritage site, before arriving in Sicily, to explore Segesta and the Greco-Roman amphitheater at Taormina, with options to venture to the hilltop fortress of Erice or visit a winery in Marsala. Finally, tour the UNESCO World Heritage site of Paestum and its three Doric Greek temples before cruising along the spectacular Amalfi Coast to Naples. There will also be opportunities to participate in a pre-trip extension in Gibraltar and a post-trip extension in Naples and Pompeii.

PRE-TOUR: Gibraltar- April 26-28
Spend a night and day of touring in Gibraltar before the main tour begins. Enjoy an exclusive, special-access Operation Torch Tour the morning of April 28. Travel to Admiralty Tunnel to see Eisenhower’s office & NATO COMCEN, a state-of-the art allied communications center during WWII. It was protected from enemy bombs by meters of rock in every direction and contained the board room where the invasion of North Africa, known as OPERATION TORCH, was planned by Dwight Eisenhower. In the afternoon, travel northward on a scenic drive close to the border that divides this small British overseas territory from Spain for a gourmet wine tasting and tapas pairing tour. Learn about Gibraltar’s history and landmarks at the strategic defensive fortification Chatham Counterguard while sipping wines and savouring paired gourmet foods. Return to the hotel for free time this afternoon before the main tour welcome reception.
POST-TOUR: Naples and Pompeii- May 7-9
Extend your trip with 2 nights at the luxury hotel Grand Hotel Santa Lucia, on the waterfront overlooking Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples. Tour the haunting ruins of Pompeii, the ancient city that was buried by an eruption of nearby Mt. Vesuvius and uniquely preserved, with an expert in archeology, followed by lunch at a winery at the base of Mt. Vesuvius. Explore Naples on a walking tour while tasting regional food delicacies. Visit the Naples Archeological Museum, which houses a huge collection of Greek and Roman antiquities, including artifacts, statues and mosaics found in Herculaneum and Pompeii.
